California Broker William Song Suspended for Failure to Provide Information to FINRA
According to FINRA, William Hohill Song was suspended from association with any FINRA member effective April 6, 2026, pursuant to FINRA Rule 9552(d), for failure to provide information or keep information current with FINRA.
Timely and accurate disclosure is a non-negotiable obligation for registered persons in the securities industry. FINRA Rule 9552(d) provides FINRA with authority to suspend individuals who fail to meet this obligation, and a suspension remains in effect until the individual comes into compliance. During the suspension, the individual is prohibited from associating with any FINRA member firm in any capacity.
FINRA's BrokerCheck system—which provides investors with free access to the background and regulatory history of registered persons—depends on registrants keeping their disclosures accurate and current. When registered persons fail to update their information, investors may be working with individuals whose disclosed history is incomplete or misleading. This creates a gap in the investor protection framework that FINRA's disclosure system is specifically designed to prevent.
Investors who have previously worked with Song or who are considering any broker relationship should check current registration status through FINRA BrokerCheck. If Song's suspension has been lifted, BrokerCheck will reflect the current active status. If it remains in effect, investors should ensure their accounts are managed by a properly registered representative and report any concerns to FINRA.
The securities industry in California is among the largest and most active in the country. Investors there have access to FINRA BrokerCheck and to the California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation as resources for verifying the credentials and regulatory history of their financial professionals.
