Joshua Morgan Pruitt Suspended for Failure to Comply with Arbitration Award

suspended

According to FINRA, Joshua Morgan Pruitt was suspended from association with any FINRA member firm for failure to comply with an arbitration award or related settlement pursuant to FINRA Rule Series 9554.

The suspension became effective on June 30, 2025. Pruitt was based in Sharpsburg, Georgia and had CRD number 5142597. The matter involves FINRA Arbitration Case #24-01279.

Under FINRA Rule 9554, individuals who fail to pay arbitration awards or comply with settlement agreements can be suspended from the securities industry. This rule ensures that the arbitration process provides meaningful relief to investors who have been harmed.

Arbitration is the primary forum for resolving disputes between customers and brokers in the securities industry. When customers prevail and receive awards, they have a right to expect payment. Brokers who fail to pay demonstrate a disregard for their obligations and for the customers they have harmed.

The suspension will remain in effect until Pruitt pays the arbitration award or otherwise satisfies his obligations. During the suspension, he cannot work with any FINRA member firm in any capacity.

This enforcement mechanism serves multiple purposes. It provides an incentive for brokers to pay awards, it protects future customers from brokers who have demonstrated unwillingness to honor their obligations, and it maintains the integrity of the arbitration process.

Investors should always check a broker's background before establishing a financial relationship.
